2400 Maxx

Sometimes you just need to put the gear out in the weather, to get the best range for the network. A high powered, completely weatherproof and almost bulletproof networking box like this is hard to beat.

Computers & networking

I live on a 20 acre farm. On a mountain.

I share my high speed Internet connection with neighbors as far away as 4 miles.
I have used several different high power access points and dish antennas, but my latest toy is the MAXX 2400.

The photo shows it connected to an 8.5 dBi omni-directional antenna.

The MAX 2400 can do 802.11b and 802.11g, at a remarkable 800 milliwatts.

It has a weatherproof (probably bulletproof) aluminum housing, with a very nice weathertight connector for the ethernet cable as well as one for the antenna cable. It gets its power from the included Power-Over-Ethernet gadget, so you don't need to run AC power to it.

It has a very low noise receiver, so even low power laptops can connect from a good distance away.
