Description

Sodium dodecylbenzinesulfonate is a straight chaine benzine sulfonate, a type of detergent.

Uses

Straight chain benzine sulfonates were invented as replacements for branched chain benzine sulfonates, which were the first detergents, but which could not be easily broken down by microbes in streams, and rivers, or in sewage treatment plants.

These detergents are in use in many products, from laundry detergents to detergent soap bars. They are the most common type of detergent in use.
